Personal Life of Shimron Hetmyer

The West Indian cricketer Shimron Hetmyer emerged from his place of birth Cumberland within Guyana. Gladstone Hetmyer, his father, works for Sugar Estates, and his mother is Ingrid Hetmyer. They reside in Cumberland, Guyana. Seon Hetmyer stands as the oldest among his siblings, who also include Shonette and Shonelle Hetmyer. Hetmyer is the last in line regarding family order.

Shimron Hetmyer introduced his club career during the 2016 and 2017 seasons of the Carribean Premier League, then joined IPL 2024 with Rajasthan Royals. The Guyana Amazon Warriors became his initial franchise then. The good performance at his franchise resulted in his selection for the national team.

IPL Career

Hetmyer entered his first Indian Premier League season by playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019. Hetmyer faced an unsuccessful season in RCB that led to his exclusion from the franchise during the initial season.

During the following year, he joined the Delhi Capital team where he maintained solid matches before the next seasons. The Rajasthan Royals purchased him at INR 5.5 crore in 2022. At present, the cricket player had secured his spot on the Rajasthan Royals roster for the IPL 2025 tournament.

International Career of Shimron Hetmyer

Hetmyer made his debut in the ODI format in December 2017 when his West Indies team clashed against the cricket squad of New Zealand at Wangare. During that time, he scored 29 runs from 42 balls in the game, however, New Zealand still ended up victorious in the match. 

He became a staple scorer for his team West Indies and emerged as the fourth quickest West Indian to arrive at the 1000 ODI runs out of all his 29 innings. So far, he has scored 5 centuries and 4 half-centuries out of 40 innings which could be topped in the IPL 2025.

As for his Test format career, Hetmyer played to represent his team in a match against Pakistan in Kinston in April 2017. He is also a consistent scorer in this format of cricket and produced 5 half-centuries so far. 

He debuted his T20I career in an international match against New Zealand in January 2018 at Mount Maunganui. However, the outcome of the match ended with no score as the West Indies side did not bat. As a result, the game was called off.
